Hamilton College was lucky enough to be close to the path of totality for this week’s solar eclipse. Gabriel Bit-Babik ‘25, Digital Managing Editor, captured photos on a school-sponsored trip to Woodgate, NY. Anne Petrova ‘27, Staff Photographer, captured the festivities in front of Burke Library on campus.

It’s wonderful to see the Hamilton community coming together to witness the eclipse—the makeshift filter for Gabriel’s camera is a great example of adapting on the fly to capture such a rare event. I’ve been trying to document local astronomical happenings myself, and I find that keeping notes in markdown makes it easy to organize details like exposure times and filter setups. When I need to share those notes as a polished document, I rely on a markdown docx export to keep the formatting clean. Thanks for sharing these photos and reminding us how a shared sky can bring a campus together.

I just opened a fullscreen blue display for color testing to check my monitor while reading about Gabriel Bit-Babik’s Woodgate trip. The quality of a blue screen is key, but that full moon moment in a fullscreen blue screen setup would’ve been epic for a blue display test.
